Remember the two smart Canadians who revolutionized Manhattan business with their constantly transforming space Grand Opening? Every three months their small 139 Norfolk shop gets a new identity. Ping Pong, Art Gallery, Auction House, Casino, and so on. Shapeshifting urban space.
Well, one of their most popular ideas is finding a permanent home at a new location. DRV-IN is Manhattan's only drive-in theater and features a hi def screen, surround sound and a 1965 Ford Falcon convertible that can comfortably seat you and five of your best compadres.
While DRV-IN was at its original Grand Opening location in 2007 they featured “Films That Destroyed New York” which included “Planet of the Apes” (1968) and “Escape From New York” (1981). My favorite.
$75 gets you three hours and all the popcorn you can eat.
