The much anticipated recording of Vampire Weekend's Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa by Peter Gabriel has finally surfaced! The original lyrics include the line 'This feels so unnatural / Peter Gabriel too' so speculation has run wild since their debut record was released that the Genesis frontman would be interested in recording his own version of the song. "I actually do like that song a lot," Gabriel said. "I haven't quite worked out whether I should be [singing my own name] or substituting it with a name that might be appropriate to me - I think playing with yourself makes you go blind after a while."Recorded at Gabriel’s Real World Studios this summer with Hot Chip, it was originally slated as a b-side for the Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa single but has remained unheard until today! Gabriel changes the lyric to 'It feels so unnatural to sing your own name.' Fantastic. This song has a totally different feel than the original. It feels like a Peter Gabriel track. I like that.
