Sexy Tina

The January 2009 cover of Vanity Fair featuring the white hot comedian Tina Fey is provoking some serious discussion. Some have made the case that while Tina's sexy librarian good looks have long been buzzed about, the comedian herself hasn't exploited herself to get ahead in comedy. So why, many ask, is she bearing it all, or 85% of it all, now? Are female comedians more favorably looked upon when they are conventional beautiful?

An article on Salon.com suggests that 'Maybe you find this depressing (a brilliant comic mind inevitably reduced to shaking her cleavage). Maybe you find this empowering (a brilliant comic mind finally shaking her cleavage!).'

There is a fine line between sexuality reducing or empowering a talented woman but I'm not quite sure when it became unacceptable to be intelligent, funny and talented, as well as conventionally beautiful. Is this a dynamic human being or a conflicted culture that can't maintain two thoughts in one form?
