Darius Rucker

If you had your finger on the pulse of 90s alternative rock, Hootie and the Blowfish isn't an episode of Spongebob Squarepants. They're one of the biggest artists of our generation. And for good reason. Their debut record Cracked Rear View went platinum 16 times.

Hootie and the Blowfish frontman Darius Rucker has ventured into new territory with his second solo album Learn to Live. Country territory. The rocker with the distinctive voice has returned to his listening roots with what many are calling a stellar country sound. Rucker's album debuted at number one. It's about the storytelling of country music that doesn't exist anywhere else. I'm no country music fan, but this is good stuff. To sweeten the deal even more, Darius is a humble and friendly guy. He started all over for the love of the game. You can hear it.

Darius performed the song It Won't Be Like This For Long live in Studio Q. It's a ballad from a father to a daughter. I'm looking in my brother's direction right now. Because the Bean won't be like this for long.

Darius Rucker spoke with Jian Ghomeshi on the Monday January 19th edition of Q the podcast.
