Cyclist Security

The wreckage of ineffective conventional bike locks is scattered across most urban city centers. New York has an almost palpable culture of spare bike parts knotted to the infrastructure with original owners abandoning their ride. Check out Broken Bike Blog for a photo journal of the NYC phenomenon.
Glaswegian designer Grant Howarth has designed a security system that goes beyond the lock and key. Once the bike is locked into the system all its components are safe. The unit also has the ability to recoup costs within three years through advertising. Although it might not suit the tight spaces of Manhattan, this space age bike locking system is a great step forward for cyclists.
