Villa Röling

Dutch architect Paul de Ruiter designed Villa Röling in Kudelstaart Netherlands. What the passionate art collecting clients wanted most was a space to display and be surrounded by their immense art collection. The waterfront location created a tension between a view of the beautiful surroundings and the flat wall space required for the art collection. Two volumes were then created to display the art, and enjoy the view. It's all about the view. I really enjoy the idea of the exterior of a space reflecting the interests and function of the interior. "Ahah! They must be art collectors and enjoy sunsets!" said a passerby.
