Set into the daunting Brazilian coast is the Paraty House designed by Marcio Kogan Architects. Two reinforced concrete boxes sit interlocked on the beach and find their balance amongst the topography of the island. Guests arrive via boat and cross a metallic bridge only to find themselves in a modern living space with modern art and modern furniture pieces set into the nearly untouched Lord of the Flies landscape of Brazil. The house popularly flows between nature and the great indoors by offering generous window space, spectacular views and a patchwork of natural materials that frame out the house. The upper segment contains bedrooms for the party people, while observation decks scatter the roof top.
These images are no help in stopping the constant double take I find myself locked in while staring at the title of this build. It must read Party House, right?
