Ghetto Art Biennale in Haiti
A month before the earthquake hit Port-au-Prince, Haitian art collective Grand Rue Sculptors invited international artists to their most successful exhibition yet; a celebration of the Haitian imagination. Their work is a post apocalyptic vision of their own country in ruins. Shocking because of the increasingly small disparity between art and life. Art reflecting life with a broken shard of mirror. Their sculpture suggests a haunting knowledge of the disaster to come, using medical debris, skulls, electronics and household items create a disturbing image of a broken Haiti.
