The Cortland Residence

A modern home design for a nuclear family plagued with a comforting sense of urban normalcy. That's what makes The Cortland Residence so inviting to me. Unlike architecture's current fascination with blurring the line between interior and exterior space, this design creates a strong sense of privacy and solitude while maintaining a connection with visually protected exterior spaces. Located in a dense urban neighbourhood, the house matches the height of smaller neighbours and breaks down the building's form with a series of smaller volumes.
