The Richmond Olympic Oval

Neil Patrick Harris's latest tweet articulated the feeling I've held about the Olympics for years: 'I never thought I could care so much for people or sports that I just learned about six minutes beforehand.'

In that spirit, the architecture of The Richmond Olympic Oval becomes particularly important. Even if you learned about speed skating six minutes ago. Situated on the Fraser River and designed by Cannon Design, the roof takes on the stylized shape of a heron's wing - a tribute to the large wading birds that make the river bank home.
