Upcycled Traffic Sign Furniture

Designers with tactical expertise must see the world differently than the rest of us. Those with the ability to make something out of nothing. Several times in my life a new skill has allowed me to see the world anew. The first time I stepped on a skateboard or mastered the unicycle it suddenly occurred to me that a curb or planter box might take on a new purpose. One more suited to your new skill.

Boris Bally is one such designer. Re-salvaging or upcycling common street signs into dynamic pieces of furniture. Following the humanfactured approach, in which the hybridization of art, design and craft with a variety of production skills occurs, Bally minimizes scrap material in his design while honing the technical skills needed to work with the unusual medium.
