Peralta's New Doc

Skateboarding legend turned prolific documentary film director Stacy Peralta offers up his latest project that is a far cry from the sun soaked Dog Town and Z Boy and Riding Giants.
Or is it that different?

Crips and Bloods: Made in America turns Peralta's lens to the legendary South Los Angeles conflict between the Crips and Bloods. Interviews with former and current gang members outlines the origins of the conflict, the state of the union today and the search for redemption for the future. The film is rendered in what is quickly becoming Peralta's autuere style of interactive photo collage and sound bite interviews. Narrated by Academy Award Winner Forest Whitaker - which can't top Sean Penn's narration of Dog Town and Z Boys - Peralta's new film is a big step up from directing Burger King colonization projects.
