Jeremy Dickinson

The fascination with transportation of artist Jeremy Dickinson's latest solo show at Galerie Xippas in Athens Greece is perhaps most intriguing when its miniature inspiration is revealed. The detailed renderings of trains planes and automobiles reveal themselves as hand held stacks of play. The fascination has as much to do with childhood toys as it does with their real world counterparts. At the core of his work is the never ending adult project of atoning with childhood. The portraits tease out the idea of childhood play becoming adult collecting. His work ‘alludes both to the collector's obsession with the object of his passion and to the adult's wish to revive a memory and immortalize its content.’
