Infographic Money

Tokyo based designer Mac Funamizu has reimagined standard world currency by undertaking an infographic approach that hopes to be more universally understood. Each monetary value is assigned a pie chart value that reflects its worth: a one dollar coin is a full circle while smaller increments are perforated smaller segments of the coin. Good lookin' quiche!

I think he should step up his design and have two 50's fit together to make a one, or four 25's fitting together etc... Also to increase the efficiency in carrying change.

Honestly though, my first thought was picturing the 25 cent coin getting stuck on the flat side in a vending machine.

That's amazing that you thought of that. The designer himself admit it as the first and obvious fault of the project.

'while this idea wouldn’t work very well in things like vending machines, it makes you think about alternative ways we could design money.'

It's interesting to think of vending machines as such a determinant of currency design.
