Nendo Mental Health Clinic

A bizarre and haunting take on the mental health clinic from Japanese design firm Nendo. Located in the Akasaka area of Tokyo Japan, the clinic offers corporate consulting and support in addition to standard mental health consultations.

The space metaphorically opens doors to new opportunities and perspectives. Conventional doors lining the walls do not open while 'ordinary' parts of the wall open into new spaces. Sliding bookshelves, doors opening to windows and lights responsive to the opening and closing of doors all provide alternate perspectives for viewing the world and avoid a sense of being trapped by pre-existing perceptions.
