Musicians are often complimented by way of comparisons. Being
of another era or better suited to some golden age of rock recording are the ways in which we describe artists as being too good for a time when Charlie Sheen makes the front page of venerable news outlets. Too good for now. Ezra Koenig being kin to
Peter Gabriel or
Paul Simon is one of these comparisons.
Koenig's rendition of the Paul Simon classic Papa Hobo is subtle in its composition yet compelling in the way Simon's words issue from Ezra's lips like they were his own. And not discredited at all by it being commissioned for the upcoming
Uma Thurman film
Ceremony.
