The Brighton House is another beautiful Melbourne mansion. The Australian architectural excellence continues. Designed by architect Nic Bochsler, Brighton features trade-mark use of voids and changing volumes that maximize the utility of the space. I too would maximize space if I had 20 foot ceilings and a grass tennis court in my backyard that would make the Fed salivate.
An unassuming Edwardian house in Melbourne Australia was transformed into the magnificent Trojan House by architect Jackson Clement Burrows. The rear addition houses three children's bedrooms cantilevered above a large living space, and wrapped in a seamless timber skin that conceals any obvious openings. Windows, covered by shutters that follow the pattern of the façade, reveal nothing of the interior space. While the exterior resembles a rustic collection of Jenga bricks, the interior is a clean modern space bordering on space ship fantasy. I love the exterior design, but I've come to admire homes that encourage a seamless flow between interior and exterior living. This isn't one of them.
