For the Love of Gold

The last we heard of Damien Hirst, he was suing the 16 year old street artist Cartrain for copyright infringement. Now artist Eugenio Merino is gaining a lot of attention for his parody of UK bad boy artist Damien Hirst. For the Love of Gold depicts Hirst encased in one of his own glass displays with the now iconic $100 million diamond encrusted skull For the Love of God printed on his tee. The piece is currently on display at ARCO (the Madrid International Contemporary Art Fair) and sold on the first day to a Florida collector for $35 500. I don't think Hirst has many friends in the biz.
